I like collecting health metrics. They are great indicators for how things change over time. Even if most metrics that an Apple Watch collects are not entirely accurate, it is great at measuring the relative change of a health metric over time.
However, what I hate is when technology - especially Apple Watch - keeps telling you what to do and how to live your life. “You have to stand up now”, “Are you doing a workout???”, “Good morning”, “Walk at least this much to reach your daily goal”, “Say three prayers for Steve Jobs to collect your badge and keep your streak alive”.
Apple is by far the best consumer technology company, but the paternalistic behavior of their software is one of the most outrageous things they do. I wish Apple would stop treating adults as if they are five years old. Apple is not my mom.
